                                                     Ford flathead engine development



                •       1932: 221 cu.in, 65 hp, 21 stud heads, babbitt main bearings


                •       1937: insert main bearings, improved cooling

                •       1939 Mercury: 239 cu.in., 95 hp, 24 stud heads; Ford remained 221 cu.in.

                •       Minor changes to 1942, civilian production ceased after 1942 during WW2

                •       1946 Ford/Mercury: model 59A, 239 cu.in. 100 hp (popular with hot-rodders)

                •       1949-1953 Ford model 8BA, 239 cu.in. 100-110 hp


                •       1949-1953 Mercury model 8CM, 255 cu.in. 110 – 125 hp. (4” stroke)
